Building a Bench to Build on

Sometimes we need to re arrange our work space, before we can embark on a new project or direction. This year I hope to build some 8string guitars and perhaps make a foray into the new ‘fad’ of fan frets. I’m not convinced by fan frets yet. I think they probably do offer better player feel in the lower registers with the higher tensions at longer scale lengths. But as far as giving any advantages in tuning intonation or tone, I have neither heard or read a thing that convinces me of any advantages. Below are some images of the design I envisioned in Blender and below that are pictures of the build and the new tools I’m Using.

I had hoped to build this with hand tools only, but I am still tring to find a good brace and bit for drilling holes and the wood I am using was fairly twisted and cupped. This meant that the hand planing process and drilling needed to be finished with power tools. All sawing and fine planing has been done by hand.
